Many of the Buddhist temples and Shinto shrines located at the foot of Mount Koya are recognized World Heritage sites. Japanese honey bees make honey gathering nectar from the abundance of flowers blossoming at the mountain foot. This honey is a blend of nectar from many types of flowers and very different to honey collected from monoculture fields. It has a distinctly rich and full-flavored character.
